A group of miscreants looted Tk 10 lakh from a businessman after beating him up in the Subidbazar area in Sylhet city Sunday night.
The victim is Bijit Lal Das, a dealer of a mobile phone-based financial service provider Bkash and proprietor of SB Communication in the area.
Bijit鈥檚 relatives alleged that a group of eight miscreants by three motorcycles intercepted him at about 11:45pm at the Fajilchist area while Bijit was returning home after closing his shop.
They said that the miscreants snatched away a bag containing Tk 10 lakh from him and fled the scene after beating him mercilessly.
They said that the local traders rescued him and rushed him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Biman Bandar police station officer-in-charge Syed Anisur Rahman said that the police visited the spot immediately after receiving information early Monday.
He said that they were expecting a case in this connection, but no one was arrested until Monday evening.
