Police arrested a youth for allegedly raping a woman at Sreepur upazila in Gazipur city on Sunday.
The arrested is Rakib,30, son of Jainal Abedin, of North Pelaid village at Telihati union of Sreepur upazila.
The victim filed a case with the Sreepur police station, naming Rakib as the lone accused.
Police arrested Rakib from a field in Jaina Bazar area of Sreepur.
The victim鈥檚 daughter said that her mother was sent to Gazipur Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital due to heavy bleeding.
Mohammad Abdul Barik, officer-in-charge of the Sreepur police station, said that the victim lived alone at a house. The accused entered the woman鈥檚 house and raped her at about 4:00am on Sunday.
When woman started screaming, Rakib fled, the police official added.
