A case was filed against 172 people on Monday, a day after vehicles of the Rapid Action Battalion were confined and attacked over detention of a man at Sreepur in Gazipur.

Sreepur police station officer-in-charge Muhammad Abdul Barik said that warrant officer of the RAB headquarters, Jafar Iqbal, filed the case聽 22 individuals, including two women, with the police station Monday afternoon.

Besides, 150 unidentified individuals were also accused in the case.

Meanwhile, another case was filed under the Arms Act against the same people.

The police said that 14 accused named in the case were shown arrested in the cases and were sent to jail through a court order.

According to the case statements, a RAB team went to Barami area Sunday evening while acting on tip off about an illegal drug trade in the area.

The team conducted a raid at a battery-powered auto-rickshaw garage when the garage owner Mosharraf Hossain tried to flee the scene.

At that time, the RAB personnel reportedly held Mosharraf along with a pistol.

Later, Mosharraf incited the local people alleging that the RAB personnel were impersonating as RAB members and arrested him falsely.

Then they gathered there, confining the RAB vehicles, and started beating the RAB officials, leaving several injured.
