At least 102 people were detained on Tuesday in connection with the incident of hacking a police officer in the Sunibir Housing area of Adabar in the capital on Monday night.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed it in a press release issued on Tuesday.
On Monday, a ‘teen gang’ carried out an attack when the police were on a rescue operation.
The gang attacked the police with locally made weapons and vandalised a police vehicle.
In the incident, a police member named Al-Amin was seriously injured and was admitted to hospital.
Adabar police officer-in-charge SM Zakaria said that they went to the spot on Monday night after a 999 call reported that local miscreants abducted a couple for ransom.
When the police attempted to rescue them, they came under attack, he said.
Following the incident, the police started an all-out operation against teenage gangs in the area about midnight and arrested 102 people, added the police official.
