Uzayer Al Mahmud Adnan, officer-in-charge of the Companiganj police station in Sylhet, on Sunday was transferred reportedly for his inaction in widespread looting of stones from popular tourist destination Sadapathar in Bholaganj area under the Companiganj upazila.

Sylhet superintendent of police Md Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media and said that Uzayer was replaced by Ratan Sheikh, an inspector of the Sylhet district police.


District police additional superintendent Md Rafiqul Islam (crimes and operation) told 抖阴精品 that the Companiganj police station OC was transferred to Sylhet sadar court as inspector.

Ratan had served as the officer-in-charge of Jaflong tourist police station in the district from 2019 to 2024.

Contacted, Uzayer told 抖阴精品 in the afternoon that he also heard about the matter related to his transfer, but he was yet to receive any document regarding the order.

In an investigation report, the Anti-Corruption Commission reportedly named Uzayer Al Mahmud and several other members of the Companiganj police station for cooperating in the looting of stones from the Sadapathar tourist spot.

Earlier on August 18, Sylhet deputy commissioner Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad was made an officer on special duty and Companiganj upazila nirbahi officer Azizunnahar was transferred.
