
DB police in Bogura on Thursday night rescued two men and arrested seven members of a gang who allegedly trapped them in a honey trap scheme, held them hostage and demanded Tk 4 lakh in ransom.
The raid was carried out around 10:00pm at a fifth-floor flat in Rahman Villa, Chakshutrapur area of the town.
The arrestees were - Mohsin Kazi Sijan, 24, Omar Sarkar, 35, (brother of former councillor Matin Sarkar), Keya Begum, 33, Afsana Mimi, 24, Kamrunnahar Adhora, 22, Enamul Hossain aka Raihan, 27, and Nayan Hossain, 35.
Police also recovered Tk 5,100 and two mobile phones snatched from the victims.
One of the victims, Fazlur Rahman from Akkelpur in Joypurhat, met Keya Begum a month ago at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital of Bogura and exchanged phone numbers.
On Thursday, she lured him to the Tinmatha area of the town and confined him in the flat along with another associate of his.
Iqbal Bahar, the officer-in-charge of DB Police, informed us that the victims were beaten, robbed of money and phones, and forced to undress while being recorded on video.
