Members of Border Guard Bangladesh arrested two alleged smugglers with eight gold bars at Chhoighoriya border in Chuadanga Tuesday morning.
The arrested are Md Abdul Momin, 49, and Md Abul Kalam Azad, 47, of Nastipur village under Darshana police station in the district.
Being informed, a BGB team conducted a drive at Chhayghariya border at around 8.30am and recovered eight gold bars weighing 1 kg 162 grams and arrested two smugglers, a BGB press release, signed by Chuadanga-6 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Hasan, said.
The market value of the gold is Tk 17215000.
A case was filed with Darshana police station in this connection.
