Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, on Wednesday announced its full panel for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union and hall union elections scheduled to be held on September 9.

The JCD president, Rakibul Islam Rakib, announced the 27-member DUCSU panel at a press briefing held at the Aparajeyo Bangla on the DU campus.


From the panel, Md Abidul Islam Khan will contest for the post of vice-president, Shaikh Tanveer Bari Hamim for general secretary and Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed for assistant general secretary.

The panel, jointly selected by central JCD and its DU unit, left the post of research and publication secretary vacant in honour of Sanjida Ahmed Tonny, a student injured during the mass uprising, said Rakib.

The panel also included Ariful Islam to contest for liberation war and democratic movements affairs secretary post, Ehsanul Islam for science and technology secretary, Chamon Fariya Islam Meghla for common room, reading room and cafeteria secretary, Mehedi Hasan for international affairs secretary, Abu Hayat Md Zulfiqur Jesun for literature and culture secretary, Chim Chimya Chakma for sports secretary, Saif Ullah for transport affairs secretary, Syed Imam Hasan Anik for social service secretary, Arkanul Islam Rupak for career development secretary, Anwar Hossain for health and environment secretary and Mehedi Hasan Munna for human rights and law secretary.

The panel also includes 13 members, including Zarif Rahman, Mahmudul Hasan, Nahid Hasan, Hasibur Rahman Sakib, Shamim Rana, Yasin Arafat Alif, Munim Hasan Arup, Ranjan Roy, Soyaib Islam Omi, Meherunnesa Keya, Ibnu Ahmed, Shamsul Haque Anan and Nityananda Paul.

JCD leaders, along with the selected panel members, submitted the nomination papers at the university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building after the press briefing.

Later in the afternoon, DU unit of JCD announced a 204-member panel for 18 halls to contest for hall union elections.
