All academic activities at the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology are scheduled to be resumed on Tuesday after over five months.
A press release, issued by the university’s public relations and publication division on Monday, confirmed this.
The release said that the academic activities at all levels would be resumed from July 29.
Earlier, a tripartite discussion among the new vice-chancellor, all teachers and students’ representatives at the KUET on Sunday failed to reach an agreement regarding the resumption of academic activities at the educational institution.
The vice-chancellor, Professor Md Maksud Helali, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Sunday evening that it would take more time to decide on the resumption of classes.
Professor Maksud, a freedom fighter and a retired teacher of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, took charge as the ninth KUET vice-chancellor on July 25.
Academic activities at the university have remained stalled for over five months as its teachers have continued their boycott since February, protesting against alleged assaults on them.
The stalemate at the university began on February 19, following the February 18 violent clashes between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Students Against Discrimination over the ban on on-campus student politics, which led to the institution's closure on February 25 for an indefinite period.
