Vice-chancellor of the Bangladesh Medical University Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam at a programme in Dhaka on Wednesday said that the July uprising would forever inspire the establishment of a just and rights-based state without discrimination.

‘Inspired by the inspiration of the July uprising, Bangladesh’s education, health and economy must be taken forward. Bangladesh must be transformed into a developed state,’ he said while inaugurating a photo exhibition, commemorating the July uprising 2024, at the BMU, said a press release.


As part of the July uprising month 2025 observance programme, a three-day photo exhibition has started at Bangladesh Medical University in commemoration of July Uprising 2024.

The photo exhibition is showcasing various events of the July uprising, including the killing of Abu Sayed on July 16, and the victory of the student-led mass uprising on August 5 in the past year.

At the same time, a voluntary blood donation programme, free screening and blood donor registration programme were organised by the transfusion medicine department at Milon Hall.

In addition, the BMU also observed July Martyrs’ Day.

BMU pro-VC for administration Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad, pro-VC for research and development Professor Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader and treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar, among others, were present at the programme.
