Former chief election commissioner KM Nurul Huda on Tuesday gave confessional statement in a case lodged for manipulating national elections.

Dhaka additional chief metropolitan magistrate Ziadur Rahman recorded Nurul Huda鈥檚 statement under section 164 as the police produced him before the court after the end of his four-day remand in the case and pleaded to record his statement.


After recording the confessional statement, the court sent KM Nurul Huda to jail.

The court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Awlad Hossain Mohammad聽 Zunayed on June 27 had placed KM Nurul Huda on a four-day remand in the case. He was placed on a four-day remand for the first time in the case on June 23.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party national executive committee member Md Salah Uddin Khan filed the case on June 22 against 24 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and three former chief election commissioners, for manipulating the national elections in 2014, 2018 and 2024.

Former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, four former inspectors general of police, several former election commissioners, and former chiefs of SB, NSI and DGFI have been accused in the case.

Police on June 22 took KM Nurul Huda into their custody from his residence at sector 5 of Uttara as a mob apprehended the former CEC at around 7:00pm. He was later shown arrested in the case.
