
The Border Security Force of India pushed at least 18 people, including eight children, into Bangladesh through three separate border points under the Sadar and Tentulia upazilas in Panchagarh on Wednesday.
Of the fresh push-in incidents, seven were pushed into Bangladesh through the Pradhanpara border point and six were t
hrough the Tokapara border point under Sadar upazila while five were pushed through the Shuukani border point under Tentulia upazila, according to Border Guard Bangladesh officials.
BGB officials said that they had detained the people and handed them over to the Sadar and Tentulia police stations.
With the latest push-ins, the number of people, including Rohingyas and Indian nationals, pushed into Bangladesh by the BSF since May 7 has reached 1,635.
BGB-56 Battalion in Nilphamari commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Mohammad Badruddoza said that the BSF pushed 13 people into Bangladesh and their patrol team detained them.
‘We have handed them over to police after filing a general diary,’ he added.
Panchagarh Sadar police station officer-in-charge Abdullahil Zaman said that most of the detainees were from Narail district.
‘We will take necessary actions after verifying their identities,’ the OC added.
BGB-18 Battalion in Panchagrah commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Monirul Islam said that a patrol team detained five people pushed into Bangladesh by the BSF from Bhajanpur border.
‘We have handed them over to the Tentulia police station after filing a general diary,’ the BGB official said.
