
Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh in a raid in Jashore detained a man along with 12 gold bars weighing 1.397 kilograms and worth Tk 2,03,51,496, said Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commanding officer of 49 Border Guard Battalion.
The detained, Liton Roy, 50, is son of Madhusudan Roy of Shakaribazar in the capital city Dhaka was arrested at Jhumjhumpur, on the skirts of Jashore town, under Kotwali police station at around 8:30am on Monday.
The BGB CO said that on information the BGB members detained Liton and seized the gold bars searching his shoes while he was going to India through the Jhenaidah border.
The detained was handed over to Jashore Kotwali police after filing a case with the police station, the CO said, adding that the gold bars were deposited in the treasury.
