
A case was filed on Sunday after six members of Detective Branch of police were injured in an attack allegedly carried out by drug dealers and gamblers at the Char Kashim Nagar under Belabo in Narsingdi.
The attack occurred when a team of the DB police went to conduct a raid on a gambling den and recover drugs in the Char Kashim Nagar High School area of the upazila on Saturday night.
The injured were sub-inspectors Mohammad Abdus Salam and Sheikh Md Jasim Uddin, assistant sub-inspector Rajib Hasan, police members Shamsul Islam, Majedul Islam and Md Hasmat Ali.
They were admitted at the Belabo Upazila Health Complex.
The case was filed by the DB police with the Belabo police station against those involved in the incident.
The accused were Mohammad Salman, 32, Md Iktiar Hossain, 38, Md Mojibur, 40, Habibur, 38, Abdul Jalil, 45, Md Mobarak Hossain, 42, Md Shahjahan, 40, Sentu Mia, 42, Parvez, 26, and Ibrahim Khalil, 43 and 40-50 unidentified individuals.
Narsingdi additional superintendent of police for crime and operation Sujan Chandra Sarkar confirmed the incident and the police were on a regular operation when they were attacked.
Six policemen and the driver were injured in the attack with the Hiace car used in the operation was also vandalized, he said.
‘All of them are out of danger. No one was arrested in this incident so far,’ he added.
