The National Citizen Party chief organiser for the southern region, Hasnat Abdullah, has urged all parties to treat two student advisers of the interim government with respect, describing them as representatives of the student-led mass uprising.
He made the statement on Sunday morning while addressing reporters at Biplab Udyan in Chattogram city, before launching the party’s organisational tour across the Chattogram district’s southern region.
Responding to a question about the BNP-backed demand for the resignation of advisers Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Mahfuz Alam, Hasnat Abdullah said, ‘We have clearly stated that these two individuals are serving in the interim government as representatives of the mass uprising and they are not affiliated with any political party, including the NCP.’
Attempts to label them as activists of any party are unacceptable and they condemn such efforts, Hasnat added.
He also said that they were representatives of the collective mass movement, and such identification must be prioritised.
‘Differences in policies and perspectives are natural among political parties, but during national crises, our character as a nation is reflected in how we overcome those differences and move forward in unity,’ Hasnat said.
Referring to a meeting held on Saturday night with the interim government’s chief adviser, Hasnat Abdullah said that they had urged the government to swiftly release a road map outlining reforms, justice initiatives, and the forthcoming elections.
About the campaign in Chattogram, Hasnat said, ‘This campaign aims to reflect people’s expectations and gather public opinion on urgent national matters. reform, and the next general election.’
Hasnat Abdullah was accompanied by senior NCP leaders, including Tasnim Jara, senior joint secretary, Mir Arshadul Haque, joint secretaries, Mahmuda Alam Mitu and Md Ataullah, joint chief organisers and others.
As part of the campaign, the delegation held street rallies at nine locations across South Chattogram.
