
A case was filed against four leaders, including the member secretary of Sylhet district unit of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement by a female leader of the platform on allegation of threatening to rape her after abduction.
Sumaiya Akhter, joint coordinator of the platform’s district unit, filed the case with the Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday afternoon, the court sources said.
The four accused in the case are Student Movement Against Discrimination district member secretary Nurul Islam, its joint convener Salman Ahmed Khurshed, 27, joint member secretary Fakhrul Hasan, 25, and Redwan Munsi, 26, the sources said.
The plaintiff’s lawyer Md Wahidur Rahman confirmed the filing of the case against four leaders of her platform.
‘The court ordered the officer-in-charge of Kotwali police to investigate the case and submit an enquiry report to the court,’ he said.
According to the case statement, the accused, in front of Sarada Smriti Bhaban, a cultural building in the Keane Bridge area in Sylhet city, on May 10 threatened to abduct, rape and murder her.
She also claimed that she filed a general diary with the Kotwali police on May 7 as the accused insulted her and harassed her sexually on May 6.
Contacted, the prime suspect in the case, Nurul Islam, also Student Movement Against Discrimination district unit member secretary, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Thursday evening that the allegations brought against them in the case were baseless, fabricated and intentional.
‘She wanted to become the spokesperson for the convening committee, but we didn’t select her for the position,’ Nurul said, adding, ‘She is trying to harass me and others of the platform,’ Nurul alleged.
The platform’s central joint convener, Mahbubur Rahman Shanto, also claimed that the case filed by Sumaiya was intentional.
