A 21-year-old housewife allegedly killed herself at her residence in Kalabagan area of Dhaka on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Tasnufa Tabassum Mim, wife of Md Jamiul Haque Faruk and daughter of Mokhlesur Rahman of village Akubdandi Sharifpara in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram district.
Tasnufa, mother of a seven-month-old daughter, used to live with her husband at a rented house on the third floor of a house on Lake Circus Road in the area.
Quoting family members, sub-inspector of Kalabagan Police Station Nandan Kumar Das said that the victim went to her room and hanged herself following an argument with her husband on Tuesday night.
Family members found her unconscious and rushed her to a nearby hospital first and then to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) where she was declared dead, he said.
The body was kept at DMCH morgue for post-mortem examinations, the SI said adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.
