Chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Muhammad Tajul Islam on Friday said the probe report in a case lodged in the tribunal against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to be filed on Monday.

In the case, Sheikh Hasina has been accused for committing crimes against humanity and genocide during the July-August mass uprising.


‘I am hoping the ICT investigation agency will file its probe report in the case on Monday. The trial of Sheikh Hasina would commence after filing of the formal charge in the case,’ Tajul told BSS.

The ICT chief prosecutor further said that the prosecution would also file formal charge in Chankharpul massacre case within a week.

The ICT probe body filed 90-page probe report in the Chankharpul massacre case against eight persons including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman on April 20.

‘The investigation agency prepared the 90-page probe report in six months and 13 days. Testimonies of 79 witnesses have been recorded, 19 video footages, 11 news paper reports, two audio files, 11 books or reports and six death certificates were attached with the report,’ Muhammad Tajul Islam told newsmen.

Shahriar Khan Anas, Mahdi Hasan Zunaid, Md Yakub, Md Rakib Hawlader, Md Ismamul Haque and Manik Miah were killed in police firing in Chankharpul area on August 5, 2024.
