The police recovered the torso of an unidentified woman from Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, Friday night.
South Keraniganj police station officer-in-charge Majharul Islam said on Saturday that locals saw the torso in a sack near Kaliganj鈥檚 Garments Market area Friday evening and informed the police by calling the national emergency hotline 999.
The police later recovered the torso from the spot at about 10:30pm and sent it to Mitford Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Efforts are underway to identify the woman and the perpetrators, he said.
鈥業t is primarily believed that someone killed the woman, severed her head, hands and legs and left the torso in a sack in the dark of night,鈥� OC Majharul said.
