A woman was allegedly strangled to death over a family feud at Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi on Sunday morning.
The deceased is Khadija Akhter, 35, wife of Tarek Mia, 40, a resident of Bharaterkandi village of Shibpur in Narsingdi.
Police said that a complaint was filed with the Shibpur police station against husband Tarek Mia for strangling his wife.
Shibpur police recovered the body from the house in the village under the upazila on Sunday afternoon.
Police suspected that the husband strangled Khadija as he went into hiding after the incident.
Shibpur police officer-in-charge Afzal Hossain said that there were marks of injury to the deceased鈥檚 neck.
Her husband Tarek Mia has gone into hiding after the incident, the OC said, adding that the body has been sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
According to police and relatives of the deceased, the people of the house broke open the door of the room as there was no response from inside the room on Sunday morning and saw the body of Khadija.
Later, when locals informed the Shibpur police station, the police recovered the body and sent it to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The OC said that there had been a family feud between Tarek Mia and his wife Khadija Akhter for a long time.
