
A crime suspect died in the custody of the police at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Saturday evening, less than 24 hours after his admission to the hospital by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s detective branch.
The deceased is Hezaz Bin Alam alias Fahim Ahmed, 34, an associate of listed crime suspect Sanjidul Islam Emon, of the capital’s Mohammadpur area, the police said.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Faruk Ahmed said that the detective branch personnel admitted Fahim to the hospital at about 4:20am on Saturday and he died Saturday evening.
He said that the body was kept at the medical college morgue for autopsy.
Mohammadpur police station officer-in-charge Ali Iftekhar Hasan said that the DB detained him from the Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital area Friday night and admitted him to the DMCH later.
‘He is accused in a murder case filed over the July-August mass killing. We requested the DB to help us in arresting him,’ the OC said.

Neither DMP DB chief Reazul Karim nor joint commissioner for South Nasirul Islam could be reached over the phone for comments despite several attempts.
