The police arrested a youth and recovered 6.5 kilograms of heroin, worth Tk 6.5 crore, from his possession at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi Monday night.
The deceased is Ezajul Haque Jhabu, 28, a resident of bordering village Diyar Manikchak in the upazila.
Saifur Rahman, superintendent of Rajshahi district police, said that acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive at Matikata Canalpara village and arrested Ezajul.
After searching his body, thirteen packets of heroin, weighing 6.5 kilograms, were recovered, he said, adding that Ezajul鈥檚 associate, however, managed to flee after seeing the police.
The police official said that a case was filed with the Godagari police station against Ezajul and his associate under the narcotics act.
