The App Forum, a wing of Directorate of Career Counselling and Student Affairs, United International University, organised a reception ceremony titled Meet the Champions of UIU at the university in Dhaka on Saturday.

The ceremony was organised for three robotics teams— UIU Mars Rover, UIU Ascend and UIU Mariner that had recently achieved significant success in various international robotics competitions, said a press release.


Ariful Hasan Opu, president of Space Innovation Camp and adviser for NASA Space Apps Challenge BD, was present as special guest at the ceremony.

Among others, professor emeritus M Rezwan Khan, executive director, Institute for Advanced Research, UIU, and Professor Hasan Sarwar, dean, school of science and engineering, UIU, spoke at the programme, which was presided over by Professor ASM Salahuddin, UIU acting vice-chancellor.

‘UIU Mars Rover Team’ has secured 1st place in Asia for the fourth consecutive time and 6th place globally in the University Rover Challenge 2025 competition organised by the Mars Society of the United States.

‘UIU Mars Rover Team’ has secured 1st place in Asia in the University Rover Challenge competitions of 2022, 2023 and 2024. The team has also secured 3rd place in the world and 1st place in Asia in the Anatolian Rover Challenge 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious international robotics competitions organized by the Space Exploration Society of Turkey.

The UIU Mariner, Bangladesh’s first-ever university team from UIU, won 5th place globally MATE ROV World Championship 2025 in the PIONEER Class. The team also secured 1st place in Asia and was named Technical Documentation Champion organised by the Marine Technology Society in the United States.

The ‘UIU Ascend’ team won 2nd place in Asia and 7th place in the world at the CanSat Competition 2025 organised by the American Astronautical Society, US. The UIU team also stood 3rd in Asia and 11th place in the World at the CanSat Competition 2024.

Ariful Hasan Opu congratulated the three robotics teams at the beginning and said that these teams were changing the technology map of Bangladesh.

He especially thanked the ‘UIU Mars Rover’ team for securing 1st place in Asia for the fourth consecutive time.
