South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Monday underscored the need for exploring ways and means to achieve deeper engagements between Dhaka and Seoul.

The president made the remarks when Bangladesh ambassador to Republic of Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil presented credentials to him at the Presidential Office in Seoul.


The ceremony was held in a decorated and congenial atmosphere, according to a message received here.

Following the ceremony, the ambassador had the brief call on to the president.

During the call on, the ambassador conveyed greetings from the president and chief adviser of Bangladesh and South Korea’s president reciprocated it.

Noting that South Korea is an important friend and development partner of Bangladesh, ambassador expressed willingness to make efforts to further deepening ties between two countries.

Ambassador Shatil also conveyed Bangladesh’s thanks and appreciation for the South Korea’s continued humanitarian support for forcibly displaced Rohingyas in Bangladesh.

He also appreciated South Korean president’s declared objective to enhance engagements with the countries of the South.

Bangladesh ambassador requested the president to consider visiting Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time in near future.
