The central committee of the Communist Party of Bangladesh on Wednesday elected Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan as president and Abdullah Kafee Ratan as general secretary of the party.

The newly elected 43 members of the central committee of the party elected in the 13th congress at a meeting in the party鈥檚 central office in Purana Paltan elected them for four years.


The meeting also elected six presidium members former president Mujahidul Islam Selim, Rafiquzzaman Layek, SA Rashid, Ragib Ahsan Munna, Joly Talukder and Aminul Farid.

CPB held its 13th party congress in Dhaka, which was inaugurated at the Engineers Institution of Bangladesh on Friday.

Then a council session was held at the Bangladesh Medical Association auditorium in Topkhana Road.

The 43-member central committee was elected on Monday.
