
At least five people were killed and 32 others were injured in road accidents in Barishal, Dhaka and Gopalganj between Thursday night and Friday.
A college student named Shahariar Azad Talha, 20, was killed in a road accident in Gaurnadi on the Barishal-Dhaka highway, 抖阴精品 correspondent in Barishal reported.
Talha, a Class XII student of the Government Gaurnadi College, was a resident of Paschim Barthi village in Barthi Union.
Gournadi highway police station officer-in-charge Aminur Rahman said that the accident took place at around 10:30am on Friday in the area adjacent to Barthi Bazar of the upazila.
Gaurnadi fire service station officer Bipul Hossain said that Talha and his two friends were coming towards Barthi Bazar on a motorcycle when they collided with an unknown pickup, leaving him dead on the spot and two pillion passengers injured.
An unidentified woman, 32, was killed after being hit by an unknown vehicle in the capital鈥檚 Banani area early Friday, United News of Bangladesh reported.
Banani police sub-inspector Md Sohel said that the incident occurred at around 2:30am in front of the Naval Headquarters in the Banani area.
The police rescued her and took her to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead, he said.
Meanwhile, three people were killed and at least 30 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopalganj on Thursday night, UNB reported.
The accident took place when a Boleshwar Paribahan bus, en route to Chattogram from Mongla, collided with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction in the Fukra area of Kashiani upazila at about 9:00pm.
