At least six people, including a child and two teenagers, were killed and several others critically injured in separate road accidents in Savar, Jhenaidah, Panchagarh and Chattogram on Friday.

In Savar, two men waiting to board a bus at Savar Bazar bus stand on the Dhaka-Aricha highway were crushed to death on Friday morning when a speeding truck rammed into a Gazipur-bound bus, pushing it forward and hitting them.


The deceased are Hossain Ali, 55, of Bhola and Sayet Sheikh, 35, of Shariatpur, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported.

According to Savar Highway police officer-in-charge Saugatul Alam, both victims were declared dead at a local clinic.

Police seized the vehicles, but the drivers and their assistants managed to flee the scene.

In Panchagarh, two cousins—Sanjay Chandra Roy, 14, and Anik Chandra Roy, 13—were run over by a stone-laden truck in Char Talar Crossing area of Debiganj upazila early Friday, according to BSS.

The teenagers were returning home on a bicycle when they were hit from behind. Both were declared dead at Debiganj Upazila Health Complex.

Confirming the matter, Debiganj police OC Sohel Rana said the killer truck was seized and its driver and his assistant were arrested.

BSS also reported that a seven-year-old Saima Khatun was killed after being struck by an easybike while crossing the road near her home in Armukhi village under the sadar upazila in Jhenaidah.

She was on her way to buy biscuits from a local shop when the accident occurred. Despite efforts by locals to save her, she was declared dead upon arrival at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, said Jhenaidah Sadar police OC Abdullah Al Mamun.

¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Chattogram reported that one man was killed and two others were critically injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Lohagara upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased, Nasir Molla, 60, died after being taken to the local health complex. The injured were transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

Dohazari highway police OC Shubho Ranjan Chakma said that a Cox’s Bazar-bound passenger bus named Iconic Express’ collided head-on with the oncoming auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw was mangled in the accident.
