The son of a Rajshahi court judge was fatally stabbed at the family’s residence in the city’s Dabtala area on Thursday afternoon, allegedly by a man known to the family, according to police reports.

The victim, 18-year-old Tawshif Rahman Suman, was the son of Abdur Rahman, a judge at the Rajshahi Metropolitan and Sessions Judge’s Court.

The police have arrested the suspected attacker, 35-year-old Limon Miya, who was also injured in the attack and is currently receiving treatment under police custody at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

According to the police and family sources, Limon, originally from Gaibandha, launched the attack around 3:00pm inside the family’s home, leaving Suman critically wounded.

Suman’s mother, Tasmin Nahar, was also injured while attempting to protect her son. Both were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where doctors later declared Suman dead.

Gaziur Rahman, deputy commissioner (CTTC) and additional deputy commissioner (Crime, Operations, and Media) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, confirmed to ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that Limon had been previously acquainted with the family.

‘We suspect that the attack was motivated by a prior enmity,’ Rahman said, adding that further investigation would provide more details.
