Home adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the home ministry in Dhaka on Wednesday said that they would transfer SPs and OCs through a lottery before media representatives prior to the announcement of the election schedule.
‘The transfer of OCs would be carried out division-wise,’ he said after a meeting on formulating a collective and integrated work plan for the next election.
After the announcement of the election schedule, the law enforcement agencies will come under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission, he said, adding, ‘If the commission wants, they can make changes in this regard.’
Jahangir Alam also said that they were trying their best to deliver a good election to the nation. ‘We will try our best to hold a good election. There will be no problem if we get your (media) cooperation in this connection.’
He also mentioned that the next election would be free, fair and impartial.
The adviser also said that the home ministry took several decisions at the meeting, including deploying eight lakh personnel from all law enforcement agencies, equipping each of the 47,000 polling centres with a body camera, and providing training to all officials assigned to election duties.
