Home adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Tuesday said that Bangladesh had urged India to repatriate only those identified as Bangladeshis through proper channel.
The adviser, talking to reporters after the concluding parade of the 14th batch of deputy jailers and the 62nd batch of prison guards at Rajshahi Prison Training Center, also said that Bangladesh had protested at the recent incidents of people being pushed into Bangladesh by the Indian Border Security Force.
‘The incidents of people being pushed into Bangladesh through different border points have increased, and we have protested at these incidents. But Bangladeshis are our own people. We have told India to send people through proper channel, which we follow to return foreigners through legal procedures. But they are not doing that,’ he said.
The Indian Border Security Force and Navy began pushing people, including Indians and Rohingyas, into Bangladesh on May 7.Â
The number of people pushed into Bangladesh by India since May 7 has crossed 800 although the Border Guard Bangladesh and the police took heightened security measures along the border.
Regarding border security, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that there was no lack of security along the frontier.
‘The people are completely safe. The country's forces are fully prepared to deal with any situation. There will be no unrest along the border,’ he said.
