
At least three people were killed and 10 people were injured in road accidents in Dhaka and Kishoreganj on Friday.
An 18-year-old student was killed when a motorcycle was hit a covered van at Banglamotor in Dhaka early Friday, said Md Faruq, in-charge of police outpost at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The deceased, Arshed Ahmed Sarker, an Ideal College student, was a resident of Lalbagh in Dhaka.
Hatirjheel police station sub-inspector Shahidul Hasan said that the student was critically injured when the covered van hit the motorcycle at the Banglamotor intersection, causing him to be thrown onto the road.
He was found lying on the street and taken to the emergency department of DMCH, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead at about 5:00am.
The covered van involved in the incident was seized and the driver was detained, added the SI.
Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha reported that two pedestrians were killed and 10 others injured when a truck ran over them at Akbarnagar Bus Stand Bazar area on the Kishoreganj-Bhairab regional highway on Friday.
The deceased were Md Halim Mia, 60, hailed from Akbarnagar village under Bhairab and Angur Mia, 45, of Jagrarchar Munshibari of the same upazila.聽
According to the police, a Bhairab-bound wood-laden truck from Kishoreganj ran over the pedestrians at about 8:00am at the area and killed two people on the spot.
Besides, 10 others were injured when two auto-rickshaws overturned during the accident, said Md Sahabur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhairab highway police station.
