
Bangladeshi electronics and technology brand Walton has started exporting motherboards (PCBA) to the United States for sensitive security devices.
Walton has made history with the first-ever motherboard export from Bangladesh to the US, said a Walton press release.
To mark the occasion, a ceremony was organised at Walton Corporate Office in the capital on Monday.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, chief adviser’s special assistant in-charge of the Ministry Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, was present as chief guest.
Information and Communication Technology Division secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury was present as a special guest.
Among others, Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC chairman SM Shamsul Alam, Walton Digi-Tech Industries chairman SM Rezaul Alam, managing director SM Monjurul Alam Ovee, Walton Micro-Tech Corporation chief executive officer Nishat Tasnim Shuchi and Adil Hossain Nobel, CEO of Axentac PLC, a subsidiary of Robi Axiata, attended the event. Â
At the function, Walton officials said, ‘Walton is exporting household electronics products with the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ tag to more than 50 countries around the world. In the US, Walton is initially exporting more than 2,500 pieces of motherboards to Safepro Technologies Inc, an IT company located at Wisconsin State in US. The initial export amounts are equivalent to about Tk 2.5 million.’
Addressing the function, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said, ‘I am very excited that Bangladesh is exporting motherboards to the US, where there is Silicon Valley. Undoubtedly, this is a historic milestone for Walton and Bangladesh.’
He noted that the global market for PCB and PCBA was about $80 billion, which would further grow up by more $30 billion in the next five to six years.
Safepro Technologies Inc has a wide reputation and contribution in providing effective security systems to protect the lives of all kinds of people, including young students of American schools and colleges, in emergencies.
Through the company, Walton’s hardware from Bangladesh has now been added to the security devices of the United States, the release said.
