
The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh has constituted a new ‘Ethics Board’ and elected Professor MR Kabir, vice-chancellor of Daffodil International University, as its chairman recently.
The board was formed under Section 83.00 of the IEB Constitution and a decision from its 650th Central Council meeting, said a press release on Tuesday.
Primary mandate of the board is to safeguard professional ethics, discipline, and the dignity of engineers across Bangladesh, ensuring both responsibility and accountability within the field.
The IEB has expressed strong confidence that under the leadership of Professor Kabir, the board would be instrumental in fostering professional integrity, promoting ethical practices, and driving capacity building among engineers.
The board itself is composed of a diverse and distinguished panel of experts, including renowned academics from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, the Bangladesh University of Textiles, and the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology.
To provide a well-rounded perspective, the board also features representatives from the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association, the Bangladesh Human Rights Commission, along with other eminent professors and professional experts.
