The students at the workshop of the Friday Theatre School on Saturday premiered the classic tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin at Alliance Française de Dhaka.

The play performed in English was dramatised by William Glennon and was directed by Ashish Khondker, said a press release.

The performance ‘Pied Piper of Hamelin’ blends humor, drama, and a moral lesson. In the selfish, unhappy town of Hamelin, a plague of rats overwhelms the people. A mysterious Piper arrives, offering to drive the rats away in return for his rightful reward. Using the magical tune of his pipe, he saves the town — but when the mayor refuses to honor his promise, the piper takes his revenge by luring the children of Hamelin to a place where joy awaits, leaving the townsfolk to grieve their loss.

Two consecutive performances of 60 minutes’ production were performed by the children actors of the school run by the Dhanmondi branch of the Alliance Française de Dhaka.
