Renowned mime artist Nithor Mahbub depicted July mass killing during the student-led mass uprising and contemporary issues in a solo mime show at the experimental theatre hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday.
Written and directed by Nithor Mahbub, the show titled Rakte Agun Legeche was organised by Mime Art.
Rakte Agun Legeche shows the tragic death of student leaders Abu Sayeed and Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho, student’s protests and resistance against the ousted regime as well as the role of journalists during the uprising.
The performance reflects a critical moment in the life of people, particularly day labourers, students and journalists when they stand against mass killing by fascist government.
Journalists are also shown being forced by partisan leaders to hide the actual events on the streets during the protest.Â
Mahbub performs his popular mime pieces addressing social inequality, rising awareness and discrimination.
Shuvashis Datta Tanmoy has designed the music for the play while Faisal Mahmud assists the director.Â
‘We have dedicated this performance to all warriors of the July uprising who stood against the fascist regime,’ Nithor Mahbub said, adding that they need to work for a discrimination-free country for all.
