Enamul Haque

Today is the third anniversary of the death of actor and cultural activist Enamul Haque.

Born on March 7, 1943 in Feni, Enamul Haque started his career in television as an actor in Mustafa Monwar’s television drama ‘Mukhara Ramani Bashikaran’ in 1968.


A founding member of the theatre troupe Nagarik Natya Sampradaya, he also wrote 25 stage dramas, translated 18 others, besides publishing 11 scientific papers on chemistry. For television, he has written more than 60 dramas and over 50 dramas for radios, including ‘Seisab Dingulo’, ‘Nirjan Saikat’ and ‘Ke Ba Apon Ke Ba Por’.

The actor-dramatist joined as a chemistry department lecturer at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1965, and retired as a professor of the department in 2008.

He acted in the works, including ‘Emiler Goenda Bahini’, ‘Ei Sab Dinratri’, ‘Ayomay’, ‘Amar Bandhu Rashed’ and ‘Brihannala’.  

He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2012.

Enamul Haque passed away on October 11 in 2021.
