Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia visited the mausoleum of the late president Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, on Wednesday night.

Her convoy arrived at the site at about 11:00pm, where she offered prayers, recited Fatiha, and made supplications for the departed soul of Ziaur Rahman while remaining seated in her vehicle.


She was accompanied by family members, including the spouses of her younger brothers, late Saeed Iskander and Shamim Iskander, the BNP chairperson鈥檚 media wing confirmed.

Several senior BNP leaders, including BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member AZM Zahid Hossain, and Khaleda Zia鈥檚 personal physicians Professor Shahabuddin Talukdar, Professor AFM Siddiqui, and Professor Zafar Ahmed, accompanied her during the visit.

Other attendees included the chairperson鈥檚 private secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and security coordinator Shamsul Islam.

Following the visit, Khaleda Zia returned to her Gulshan residence, Firoza, at about 12:30am.

She had last paid her respects at the mausoleum in 2018.
