A local office of Jatiya Party was vandalised allegedly by National Citizen Party activists in Rajshahi city protesting at attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad president Nurul Haque Nur on Friday night.
A group of people under the banner of Anti-fascist Jatiya Oikya, led by Mobasher Ali, chief coordinator of Rajshahi city unit of National Citizen Party brought out a procession at about 12:00am on Friday from Shaheb Bazar Zero point in the city protesting at the attack on Nur.
They vandalised the local office of Jatiya Party at Ganakpara of the city and set some valuables of the office on fire, said witnesses.
Meanwhile, a group of Rajshahi University students under the banner of Rajshahi University Anti-Discrimination Students brought out a procession on the campus at about 11:00am and blocked Rajshahi-Dhaka highway, halting vehicular movement.
Abul Kalam, officer-in-charge of Boalia Model Police Station, said police are investigating the attack on the JaPa office and legal action will be taken after getting complaints.
Earlier on Friday, a clash broke out between activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad and Jatiya Party in the capital鈥檚 Kakrail area.
As tensions escalated, police and army personnel charged batons, leaving Nur and several others injured.
