
Politicians, academics and professionals on Friday at a commemoration meeting said that Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia was a true politician who worked for establishing a democratic Bangladesh following ideals of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.
After the culmination of July uprising on August 5 amid fall of the Awami League regime, leaders like Jadu Mia were needed for establishing discrimination-free and democratic Bangladesh, they said.
Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia Smriti Jatiya Committee organised the programme in the National Press Club to mark his 101st birthday and distribute birth centenary award among a group of dignitaries where coordinator of the Sangsad Lita Rahman gave introductory speech. Lyricist Abu Saleh presided over the programme.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Abdul Mayeen Khan said that Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia was a politician who wanted to establish a democratic Bangladesh and establish rights of the ordinary people.
Academics and economist professor Mahbub Ullah called on the politicians of the present generation to follow ideals of Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia for establishing democratic Bangladesh.
Jadu Mia was born in 1924 at Dimla in Rangpur and was a minister in prime minister rank of a BNP government. He died on March 12 in 1979.聽聽聽
BNP central leaders Barkat Ullah Bulu, Zahir Uddin Shwapon, Bhashani Onusari Parshad convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Tangail district BNP leader Hamidul Haque Mohan, senior journalist leader Elahi Newaz Khan, National Press Club general secretary Ayub Bhuiyan, Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal president Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat and others spoke at the memorial meeting.
The birth centenary awards were distributed among 33 dignitaries including BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Abdul Mayeen Khan, politician Mostafa Jamal Haider, Mahbub Ullah, Tipu Biswas, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Nur Mohammad Khan, Shaheed Abu Sayeed and others.
