
A student-faculty dialogue was organised by the faculty of forestry and environment at Gazipur Agricultural University was held on the GAU campus on Thursday.
The event aimed to foster academic excellence, enhance the educational environment, and ensure the development of students, said a press release on Saturday.
The session was presided over by Md Abiar Rahman, professor of forest ecology and a senior faculty member of the faculty of forestry and environment.
The event was graced by Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman, vice-chancellor of the university, who attended as the chief guest. Pro-VC Professor M Moynul Haque and treasurer Professor Md Safiul Islam Afrad were present as special guests.
The university’s proctor Professor Mohammad Saiful Alam, along with other faculty members and students from the faculty, were also in attendance.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Professor Md Main Uddin Miah, head of the department of forest policy and management and a distinguished academic of the faculty.
During his keynote address, Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman remarked, ‘A university is not merely a place for academic pursuit; it is a centre of consciousness. Our goal is to nurture students not just as degree holders, but as knowledgeable and responsible citizens.’
He further added, ‘Every faculty and department is a vital contributor to the university’s collective progress. I expect the students of the Faculty of Forestry and Environment to lead the way toward sustainable and environmentally responsible development.’
The VC also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing the best possible academic and infrastructural support within the university’s available resources.
In his concluding remarks, Abiar Rahman offered several recommendations and expressed gratitude to all attendees for their enthusiastic participation.
