
The police have filed a charge sheet before a court in Dhaka against 13 people, including president of Mohammadpur unit of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, Naimul Islam Russell, in a case allegedly for sexually abusing a woman for taking part in the anti-quota student movement in July 2024.  Â
The other accused in the charge sheet of the case are Mohammadpur BCL leader Russell, Md Faisal Alam Sunny, Akash Dewan, Md Hasan, Shamim, Mirza Emon, Md Mohan Sardar, Asad, Deen Islam, Md Parvez Ahmed, Md Anik and Sheikh Jasim.
Investigating officer of the case sub-Inspector Akkas Ali of Mohammadpur police station said that they submitted the charge sheet to the court on Saturday after completing the investigation of the case on April 30.
‘Seven people have been made witnesses in the charge sheet,’ he said.
 A 52-year old woman named Baby filed a case with Mohammadpur police station on August 25, 2024 as the complainant against the BCL leaders and his accomplices.
According to the case details, on July 21 in the past year, the accused came to the complainant’s house on Shershahshuri Road at Mohammadpur and asked them why they had joined the anti-quota movement.
When the complainant and her daughter protested, the accused randomly punched the plaintiff and her daughter and also molested them.
The accused then attacked the victim’s house with sticks and country-made weapons, causing damage to the house, including the AC and TV worth Tk 5 lakh.
The accused also looted gold rings, earrings, chains, and bracelets and Tk 1.5 lakh in cash from their house.
