Leaders of the Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, on Sunday called on the interim government to form a political council to maintain unity among pro-uprising political parties.
At a press conference at the Nagarik Oikya central office on Topkhana Road in the capital Dhaka, the coordinator of the combine, Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, also the convener of the Bhasani Onusari Parishad, made the call and demanded that the government also declare the road map for holding the next general election, trials of fascists and reforms.
He called on the pro-uprising political parties to maintain the national unity until the implementation of July uprising spirit and the formation of a charter for democratic transition of the country.
Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh general secretary Saiful Huq said that the interim government must work for the implementation of the July uprising spirit.
Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki said that they wanted early democratic transition after holding trials of the fascist and making required reforms in the constitution and ruling system.
Rastra Sanskar Andolan chief coordinator Hasnat Quaiyum said that the interim government must not fail to implement the July uprising spirit.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon said that the next general elections must be held in a free, fair and credible manner.
Nagarik Oikya general secretary Shahidulla Kaishar said that the people of the country were waiting for the establishment of a welfare state after the fall of fascist Awami League regime on August 5, 2024, in a mass uprising.
