Leaders of Sylhet district of Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Saturday said that they would take strict organisational and legal action against the activists who would engage in immoral activities using the name of the party.

Stating that BNP is an ideology-based party, they said that no compromise would be done to maintain the party discipline.


They also said that if anyone engages in unethical activities using the party name, strict organisational action and lawful step would be taken against them.

They came up with the comments while addressing an exchange of views programme with the journalists on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr at a hotel in the city.

The BNP leaders requested the journalists to present informative news on the basis of truthfulness without holding the party responsible for personal activities of anybody.

They also mentioned that the BNP always welcomed constructive criticism on the activities of the party leaders and its activists.

The Sylhet BNP had stood by the families of those killed and injured in the student-led mass uprising in the past year. Eid gifts were distributed among the affected families on behalf of the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, they said.

In the programme, the BNP leaders also thanked the law-enforcing agencies, including police, Rapid Action Battalion, traffic department, highway and railway police and other concerned institutions for keeping law and order situation under control in the Sylhet metropolitan area and elsewhere ​​in the district during the Eid vacation.

The party’s Sylhet district president Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury, city unit acting president Rezaul Hasan Kayes Ludi, district general secretary Emran Ahmed Chowdhury and city president Imdad Hossain Chowdhury addressed the programme.

Among others, BNP district vice-president Ashiq Uddin Ashuq, Shahjamal Nurul Huda, Nazim Uddin Laskar and Samia Begum Chowdhury, city BNP vice-president Ziaul Gani Arefin Zillur, Ashaf Ali and Rahim Mallik and its joint-secretary Nazibur Rahman Nazib and Mahbubul Haque Chowdhury, district joint-secretary Hasan Ahmed Patwari Ripan, Tajrul Islam Tajul, Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Anwar Hossain Mamun and Kohinur Ahmed attended the programme.
