Chuti Resort, a leading resort chain in Bangladesh, organised a two-day art carnival aimed at engaging children and youth in art at its Purbachal centre, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The event ended on Saturday.

Fifteen renowned artists of the country participated at the event comprising live painting and a musical evening performed by Farhin Khan Joyita at the venue.

Artists, including Anindita Datta, Mohammad Shamim Reza, Fahmida Khatun, Kamrun Nahar, Khandker Nasir Ahammed, Neloy I Hossain, Razzaque Prodhan, Sumana Akter and Tutul Harun participated at the event.

Artists created more than 50 paintings mostly acrylic on canvas and watercolour on paper, which will be permanently displayed at the venue.

The participating artists addressed landscape, nature, tradition and heritage of the Bengal region, urban life and contemporary issues at their artworks while they also made conversations with visiting children and youth at the resort.

‘During weekly holidays, a large number of children and youth visit the resort with their family and we have planned to promote Bangladeshi artists and art among them. Although Dhaka city has some good art galleries, we plan to open a gallery which is under construction at the venue,’ managing director and co-founder of the resort Alamgir Ferdous said, adding that tourism should promote art and culture of the country and the carnival would continue in other branches of the resort.

Alamgir also said that on the opening day of the carnival visitors also participated in discussions with artists.

Artist Razzaque Prodhan said that children felt interest in artworks when artists created the artworks and the live painting session inspired them to create art.

‘We need to promote Bangladeshi art and culture with different community activities and tourism,’ said Razzaque.
