
Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Friday that they must upheld unity among them for restoration of democratic rule in the country.
At a reception organised in honour of journalist Mushfiqul Fazal Ansary, Fakhrul also said that Mushfiqul was a real hero who worked for restoration of democratic rule in Bangladesh staying in the United States.
Mushfiqul was compelled to live in the USA for about a decade during misrule of the Awami League-led government and from there he continued his journalistic work against the fascist rule of the Sheikh Hasina government, Mirza Fakhrul said.
After fall of Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 in the face of a movement of students and people a scope has been created for restoration of democratic rule in the country, Fakhrul said.
He said, ‘We must uphold our unity for restoration of democratic rule in the country as some quarters are trying to destroy our unity.’
Jatiya Press Club, DUJ and BFUJ factions, DRU and Dhaka Sangbadik Samabay Samiti jointly organised the reception programme at Jatiya Press Club auditorium on the day in honour of Mushfuqul who returned from the USA on Thursday.
Mushfiqul thanked the journalist community of Bangladesh for giving him honour and said that he would continue his journalistic work until restoration of democratic rule in Bangladesh.
 Chaired by journalist leader Syed Abdal Ahmed, journalist leaders M Abdullah, Abdul Hay Sikder, Elias Khan, Morsalin Nomani and others spoke at the reception programme.
Before the reception programme, leaders of different journalist bodies and other organisations received Mushfiqul giving him bouquets of flowers.
Mushfiqur Fazal Ansary is currently serving as the executive director of Right to Freedom.
Earlier, he worked for The Daily Ittefaq, news agency United News of Bangladesh, television channel Bangla Vision and other media in Bangladesh.
