
An activist of Bangladesh Nationalist Party was shot dead at his residence at Badiatola in Jashore at around 11:30pm on Friday.
The victim, Meher Ali, 45, was a Kuwait expatriate, said Abdur Razzak, officer in-charge of Kotwali police station.
Abu Abdullah, younger brother of the victim alleged that the Awami League activists shot his brother in the head when he was shutting the collapsible gate of their house at on Friday.Â
He was immediately taken to Jashore General Hospital where he was declared dead, added Abu Abdullah.
Dr Khandaker Rezwan-ud- Daraim, medical officer of Jashore General Hospital, said that the victim was brought dead at the hospital.
‘He received bullet injuries in the back side of his head,’ mentioned the doctor.
Relatives of Meher Ali said that the victim had a dispute with local Awami League men for which he was killed. He landed to Bangladesh on July 26, and reached his residence on Friday.
