Farzana Rahman Bobby, a visual artist, explores the flexible and resilient aspects of nature in her second solo exhibition ‘Sound within Stillness’ using detailed lines and textures.

An exhibition at Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi, that started on October 30 and inaugurated by Artist Monirul Islam as chief guest, is showcasing a captivating collection of 30 artworks, predominantly mixed media on paper and prints, organized into four distinct series.

Bobby brings her compositions to life using a range of printmaking and mixed-media techniques, focusing heavily on layered textures, flowing patterns, and natural shapes.

Artworks from the series ‘Connecting to Roots’, ‘Ambient Silence’, ‘Blossoms in Wilderness,’ and ‘Blossoms’ are presented in the exhibition, alongside other paintings that are not part of these named series.

‘Connecting to Roots’, a mixed media artwork on handmade paper, explores the interconnectedness of forests, rivers, water, and plant life through rich patterns and textures.

‘Ambient Silence’ is a mixed media series on handmade paper that uses repetitive, multidimensional lines to explore the journey of rivers and roots. These lines are a metaphor for the flow of water, air, and wind, representing the ‘unseen veins’ and ‘nerve systems of the planet’, as well as the ‘breath of the earth’.

In the print series ‘Blossoms in Wilderness’, printmaker Bobby uses a relief process and chine collé where the work is characterized by canvases separated with minimal dissection by geometric planes and texture created by small brush strokes effectively unites the piece and captures a sense of wilderness.

Her print series titled Blossoms shows symmetrical repetitive lines which create patterns with colour and geometry symbolise the unity, rules and sensitivity.

‘I used to work as a printmaker but through this exhibition I attempt to show my new body of works created with mixed media, mostly watercolour and pen, also inspired from the print aesthetics,’ said Farzana Rahman Bobby.

Farzana Rahman Bobby completed her BFA and MFA in Printmaking at the University of Development Alternative and her first solo exhibition titled The Soul of the Soil was held at Gallery Shilpangan, Dhaka, in 2019.

Her work has also been featured in the 11th Geoje International Art Festival in Busan, South Korea, in 2025, and in the Bangladesh Art Week, Dubai, in 2025.

The exhibition will end on November 13.
