Visual artist Uttam Kumer Talukder explores stories of life, the beauty of nature and the intricate ties between humans and their surroundings in his solo exhibition titled ‘Exploring Artistic Delight’.

The five-day exhibition, curated by Farhana Nizam Chowdhury, began on September 26 at Nook Dhaka in Banani.

Uttam has displayed 48 vibrant canvas and paper artworks created with pen, acrylic, ink, pastel, crayon and soft pastel.

His art often begins with lines — flowing into geometric or organic forms — that sometimes remain minimal and at other times expand into layered, chaotic narratives filled with human figures and natural imagery.

The result is a collection that mirrors the delicate balance and tension between humanity and the environment.

The exhibition comprises four major series, namely, My Painting Story, Reflection of Time, The Spring of Life, and Drawing.

My Painting Story, rendered in mixed media on paper, combines organic shapes with text, weaving together fragments of memory and imagination.

The Spring of Life merges human figures with elements of nature in collage-like compositions, symbolising renewal and interconnectedness.

Reflection of Time juxtaposes organic objects and human forms to probe contemporary questions about the shifting relationship between people and their surroundings.

The Drawing series contains ten colourful works alongside ten black-and-white drawings. Horses in motion, birds in flight, animals, human forms, and decorative motifs populate these pieces, highlighting the artist’s fascination with both the simplicity and the complexity of the natural world.

Alongside the main series, individual works such as Lunch Time, Dream of Life, Love the Line and My Colours, and Self and My Painting Composition of far more intimate glimpses into the artist’s evolving vision.

Exploring Artistic Delight is the 12th solo exhibition of Uttam Kumer Talukder, whose career spans Bangladesh, India, and Nepal.

His work has earned recognition at home and abroad, including the Bengal Foundation Prize at the 23rd National Art Exhibition in 2019.

The exhibition will end on Tuesday.
