Cultural organisation Satyen Sen Shilpigosthi organised Sharat Utsab 1431 at Bakultala of the fine art faculty at Dhaka University on Friday.

The event paid tribute to martyrs to the student-led mass uprising and condoled with the bereaved families.  


Artistes of different cultural organisations entertained the audience with songs, dance recitals and recitations at the programme.

The festival began with an instrumental composition of sarod by Md Yousuf Khan.

General Secretary of Satyen Sen Shilpigosthi Manzarul Islam Chowdhury read the declaration of Sharat Utsab 1431 while Artist Sushanta Adhikary and Kazi Mijanur Rahman spoke at the event chaired by Nigar Chowdhury.

‘This autumn, we pay tribute to those protesters who have made supreme sacrifice to establish a discrimination-free society,’ said Manzarul Islam Chowdhury.

Artist Sushanta Adhikary said that parents should take responsibility for teaching nature, diversity of seasons and the environment to their children.

‘Those who live in villages know the beauty of autumn. Shapla Bil, Kashful and white clouds are trademarks of autumn, but city children cannot experience them,’ said Sushanta. 

Children artistes of Shimanto Khelaghor Ashor, Gandaria Kisholoy Kochi-Kachar Mela, Sur Bihar and Shilpabritta performed at the event.

Satyen Sen Shilpigosthi, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi, Nirjharini Sangeet Academy and Samasbar performed group songs while Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts, Kathak Nritya Sampraday, Dhriti Nartanalay, Spandan, Surbihar, Nrityakkha and Benuka, among others, staged group dance recitals.

Anima Roy, Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, Priyanka Gope, Tanvir Alam Sajib, among others, performed solo songs related to autumn.

The event also organised a children drawing competition on autumn, while children addressed natural beauty of autumn in Bangladesh.Â
