Bangladesh finished fourth in the CAVA Cup Men鈥檚 Volleyball after suffering a straight 3-0 set defeat to Sri Lanka in the bronze medal match at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city on Tuesday.
The visitors proved too strong for Bangladesh as they won the game by 25-20, 25-23, 25-20 set points that ensured them bronze from the six-nation tournament.
Bangladesh earlier defeated Maldives 3-0, Nepal 3-2 and Sri Lanka 3-2 before conceding defeats to Turkmenistan 3-2 and Afghanistan 3-1 in the round-robin format league-phase.
However, Turkmenistan emerged unbeaten champions in the tournament after a 3-2 (25-20, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 15-12) win over Afghanistan in the final later on the day.
Turkmenistan lifted the crown of this tournament for the third time after 2015 and 2018.聽
Bangladesh Navy chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan handed over prizes among the winners as the chief guest in the closing ceremony of the week-long tournament.聽
The CAVA president Mohamed Latheef, Bangladesh Volleyball Federation president Faruque Hassan, senior vice-president M A Latif Shahrear Zahedee and general secretary Bimal Ghosh Bhulu were also present on the occasion.
